Baker Mayfield Attends Rose Bowl Media Day Despite Illness

Oklahoma football star Baker Mayfield has been dealing with a mysterious illness throughout the week leading up to the Sooners’ College Football Playoff national semifinal appearance against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl.
The illness forced Mayfield to miss a media appearance and the team’s trip to Disneyland. There were even early reports on Saturday that the Heisman Trophy winner would be unavailable for Rose Bowl media day.
As media members waited for players to arrive, they were told Mayfield would not be in attendance.
That led to an empty podium in the middle of the room.

Everyone seemed disappointed that the star signal-caller would be unavailable.

“We’ve limited him in some areas. Energy level is not normal for him right now. But nothing major as far as having to remove him or him just not physically being able to do anything,” Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley told media members, via ESPN.
But guess what?
Eventually, Mayfield showed up to the party.

There was never really any doubt that Mayfield was going to suit up for the game, but this should comfort Sooners fans even more. Kickoff between the No. 3 Bulldogs and No. 2 Sooners is set for 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
