UNC Basketball: Luke Maye Flips Car In Accident, Emerges Unharmed

UNC basketball player Luke Maye was involved in a scary accident this week.
According to a report from The Charlotte Observer, Maye flipped his car multiple times in an accident but was able to emerge from the scene uninjured. Maye was on his way home from his brother’s middle school graduation when he came in contact with an 18-wheeler.
“Yes, Luke had a car accident this afternoon coming home for his brother’s middle school graduation,” his father, Mark Maye, told The Observer. “Was very fortunate. Thank the good Lord he is fine. Put a real scare in him — and us.

“He did run into an 18-wheeler and spun his car around, landing on a bank beside the road. Damaged the car pretty bad, but he (Luke) said he feels perfectly fine.”
Maye was a hero for the Tar Heels during the 2017 NCAA Tournament when he delivered a game-winning shot to lift UNC past Kentucky into the Final Four. North Carolina ultimately went on to claim the national title.
Last season en route to a national title, Maye contributed 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
