Dabo Swinney discusses racial slur allegations

Following Saturday’s meeting between Clemson and South Carolina, there were allegations from members of the Gamecocks roster that alleged Tigers players directed racial slurs their way during the game.

On Sunday, Swinney addressed the media about the allegations and said he spoke to his team about them.

Swinney said he asked his players about South Carolina linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams’ allegations and that his players insisted they were false. As far as Swinney is concerned, knowing the character of his players, that puts any speculation to rest.

“I was made aware of that,” Swinney said, TigerNet.com.

“Obviously everybody is talking about that. That’s a shame. Absolutely I asked my guys about that. To a man absolutely false and I believe my guys. I know the character of my team. That’s all there is to say about it.”

South Carolina defensive end Dante Sawyer also said Clemson center Jay Guillermo reached out to him after the game and ”received all my respect.”

Let’s hope no further allegations of this nature surface in the future and that none are ever proven to be true.
