Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony live stream: How to watch online

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil officially kickoff on Friday night with the Opening Ceremony at  Maracanã Stadium.

While the games have been taking place over the course of the past two days with the men’s and women’s soccer tournaments, the Opening Ceremony marks the official start of the Summer Games.

This year’s opening ceremony will be aired on NBC at 8 p.m. ET on a one-hour tape delay.

During the ceremony, there will be a number of beautiful performances and theatrics, along with the Parade of Nations as athletes and officials from all participating countries make their entrance into Maracanã Stadium along with their nation’s flag.

The 2016 Olympics will run from August 5 until August 21.

Over the course of the Olympics, there will be 2,000 hours of action in 306 different events. The closing ceremony takes place on Sunday, August 21, at 7 pm Eastern at Maracanã Stadium.
