UCLA’s Jim Mora names WR Kenneth Walker as ‘breakout candidate’ in FBS

The 2016 college football season is just weeks away, and UCLA Bruins head coach Jim Mora is feeling confident about one of his veteran players, wide receiver Kenneth Walker.

Mora was recently discussing the redshirt senior, when he claimed Walker could become one of the breakout stars in the FBS this season.

“He could be one of the surprises in the country this year,” Mora said, via the Los Angeles Times. “I know that’s a really, really big statement to make. I just got a gut feeling about the kid. … His problem has never been speed. We’ve all seen at times that he doesn’t catch the ball as consistently as you’d like, but the last few weeks, he just has.”

Walker had just nine receptions a year ago, but his speed and athleticism has led to bigger plans in the future as the Bruins move forward.

Luckily for Walker, he steps onto the field with rising star quarterback Josh Rosen, so he will have no reason to not have a breakout year in 2016. We’ll see if he proves his coach to be correct.
