Ex-LSU Lineman Mickey Johnson picks Louisiana Tech

It turns out that Mickey Johnson, a former LSU defensive lineman who announced his intent to transfer from the tigers in January, won’t be going too far away.

As The New Orleans Times-Picayune first reported, Johnson announced that he intends to transfer to Louisiana Tech (220 miles if you’re curious) following graduation from LSU in August, at which point he will be eligible to join his new team.

Since he is a redshirt junior and will have earned his degree, he will not have to sit a year and with the NCAA’s post-grad transfer rule will be eligible to play the 2015 season.

Kansas and USF were reportedly the other two schools that he was considering.

Johnson first attended LSU after coming out of high school rated four stars and the No. 17 Tackle in the nation. After redshirting as a true freshman, Johnson played in seven games the past three seasons.
