Virginia’s Justin Anderson Declares For NBA Draft

Another NBA draft declaration is in the books as Virginia Cavaliers wing guard Justin Anderson has said he will not return to school for his senior season and instead enter the draft.

Anderson averaged 12.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season, shooting 46.6 percent from the field and making just over 45 percent of his threes. The lefty also averaged just under a block per game in his three seasons in Charlottesville, quite impressive for someone just 6-foot-6, 227 pounds.

Just where Anderson ends up being selected in the draft, however, remains to be seen.

ESPN’s Chad Ford has him at No. 29 on his legendary big board, while Nbadraft.net has him at No. 22 on its own while ironically not having him selected in its most recent mock draft.

DraftExpress, on the other hand, has Anderson ranked No. 31 on its big board while projecting him as an early second round pick in its latest mock draft.

Either way, Anderson is now one of the more intriguing options in this year’s draft class. His athleticism on both ends of the court is a rare ability seen in players of similar size, and his improved jump shot should only help his stock rise as draft day draws nearer.

He’ll fly under the radar compared to names like Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor, but Anderson’s name is still going to be one to watch over the next several weeks.
