Over a month ago, Northwestern basketball star Jalan West acknowledged the fact that university president Jim Henderson had a basketball goal in his backyard.
That started a friendly exchange of trash talk between the two that culminated in a Demon-style game of HORSE that involved lawn chairs and the president’s wife.
College Basketball Talk shared the video of the friendly game between the two that saw a myriad of awesome trick shots from the two.
It was a great way to send off the summer and an even better way for Henderson to show that he really has a connection with the student-athletes at his school.
This tweet was the one that got the entire game set up.
Never noticed @DrJBHenderson had a goal in the backyard , wonder if I could get a game of horse sometime soon…

Dr. Henderson replied and the game was on from that point.
@jalanwest12 It's not me you should worry about. @reaganmaria is the Ray Allen in the family. I'm more of a Kurt Rambis…

While West ended up winning the game H-O-R-S-E to H-O, he will grant the coach a rematch in October, but this time in his own backyard.

Dr. Henderson believes that West is one of the best players in the country. He did the classy thing by showing that via Twitter.
If you're going to lose, lose to the nation's best. @NSUDemonsMBB will be special. @jalanwest12 https://t.co/sDEX8IsBe4

The Northwestern State Demons compete in the Southland Conference and haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2013. Let’s hope that West’s ability along with Henderson’s support will bring this team back to the Big Dance in 2016.
