The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels football program has dismissed running back Altee Tenpenny for breaking team rules. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported the dismissal of Tenpenny, formerly of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

A former four-star recruit from North Little Rock, Arkansas, Tenpenny spent two seasons with Alabama, but could never seem to break out of anything more than a reserve role. In those two years, he rushed for 218 yards and a touchdown.
Just what happens for him next remains to be seen, now that UNLV has dismissed him. Either he will transfer again, or perhaps he will spend a year at junior college. The university has not given grand details on why he was dismissed from the football program, nor has Tenpenny commented on the matter. Head coach Tony Sanchez, entering his first year with the team, offered a brief statement on Tenpenny.
“It’s unfortunate, but we’ve got plenty of guys,” Sanchez said. “The young guys look fantastic. That had nothing to do with (the dismissal). At the end of the day, rules are the rules.”

UNLV opens the season on the road against the MAC’s Northern Illinois Huskies on September 5.
