UCLA RB Steven Manfro Out With ACL Injury

UCLA Bruins running back Steven Manfro will miss the rest of the season after he was carted off the field during practice on Tuesday with an ACL tear. Manfro shared carries with Jordon James and Paul Perkins and was used more as a receiver out of the backfield.

Since the 2012 season, Manfro has 37 receptions for 400 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bruins struggled running the ball in their 28-20 victory over Virginia last Saturday. They managed to run only for 116 yards on three yards per carry.

Offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone knows the Bruins will have to better if they want to expand to new heights this year.

“It wasn’t good,” Mazzone stated. “It was hit and miss, no rhythm to it. We’ve always been able to run the football. It hasn’t been an area of concern for us, so we’re not going to panic. We got to be a little bit better, and I got to do a better job.”

Freshman Nate Starks should hear his name called some more now that Manfro is lost for the year.

The No. 11 ranked Bruins take on the Memphis Tigers this Saturday at 11 p.m. ET.
