UAB coach Bill Clark may have offensive coordinator?

UAB Blazers football won’t be back until 2017, but head coach Bill Clark could already be starting to prepare his staff. According to The Scoop, Clark has already hired an offensive coordinator.

The report suggests that Clark plans on hiring Les Koenning, who was most recently the wide receivers coach at Texas and the offensive coordinator at Mississippi State and Texas A&M before that. Nothing is official yet, but it’s easy to see why Clark is getting such an early start on putting a staff together.

Look at it this way, with UAB football coming back in 2017, Clark essentially has to use the time between now and then to put together a team that, up until recently, many thought defunct. By bringing on an established staff, attracting recruits will be far easier and, depending on the system Clark depends on running, recruits will be more inclined to commit to UAB.

Of course, Campus Sports will update this story as more information becomes available.
