Two FSU edge rushers to get knee scopes

Florida State edge rushers Chris Casher and Lorenzo Featherston have both suffered knee injuries and will be on the shelf for a few weeks after having their knees scoped. Ariya Massoudi of WVFS reported Casher and Featherston’s injuries on Twitter.

It’s a tough blow for the Seminoles, who only had 17 total sacks as a team last season. Though freshman defensive end Josh Sweat is showing no signs of being slowed by his recovery from knee surgery, the team cannot solely rely on him. Moreover, Casher and Featherston were being counted on to take steps forward this season.

A redshirt junior, Casher has 54 total tackles (8.5 for a loss), three sacks and a forced fumble and even a defensive touchdown in three years at Florida State. Featherston is a sophomore and appeared in 11 games last year, posting 19 tackles (five for a loss), a sack and a forced fumble.

Needless to say, both players’ collective status for the season opener against Texas State on September 5 is in doubt. Hopefully, their recoveries are quick and they can get back on the field soon.
