Tommy Tuberville unsure about QB situation next week

During the first quarter of last night’s wild game between Memphis and Cincinnati, the latter’s starting quarterback, Notre Dame transfer Gunner Kiel, took a shot to the head in what ended up being a very scary play for everyone in attendance.

Kiel had to be stretchered off the field and was transported to the Memphis University Hospital.

The play had originally been ruled targeting, but was overturned as the official ruled that Kiel was not defenseless as the hit occurred before he began sliding and that the only way the was targeting was if it was with the crown of the helmet.

Kiel did not return and redshirt freshman Hayden Moore came in and had absolutely monster game for the Bearcats.

Moore threw for 557 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite a late interception being costly for the Bearcats, Moore still had a terrific showing. His performance coupled with the uncertainty of Kiel’s status has put head coach Tommy Tuberville in quite a predicament according to the Cincinnati Inquirer’s Tom Groeschen.

The Bearcats next play the Miami Hurricanes next Thursday night and it’s unclear who will be leading the Bearcat offense. If I had to guess, Moore will probably get the starting job simply because of his performance.

It’s going to be an interesting week in Cincinnati.
