The Rock Sets Selfie Record

Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, earned himself a new title. While The Rock previously achieved ten WWE world champion titles, he has recently achieved the title of Selfie Superstar for taking an immense amount of selfies in just a short amount of time.

In addition to The Rock’s new title, he has earned himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for Most Self- Portrait Photographs (Selfies) Taken in Three Minutes.

On Guinness’ site, they explain The Rock set this world record “at the world premiere of his new film San Andreas at London’s Odeon Leicester Square…with excited movie fans.”

The fact that The Rock’s fans got to be a part of the record setting process makes the record itself that much more appealing.

The level of difficulty involved in setting this record also interests people.

Not only did the time constraint make the selfie-taking process more of a challenge, but the qualification rules did as well. And the site reported that “Guinness World Records adjudicator Mark McKinley ensured that selfie rules were followed, with requirements including the full face and neck of participants being viewable and that the images were focused, with recognisable faces and no blurring. Several selfies were disqualified, but a total of 105 were accepted to achieve the record title.”

According to US Magazine, The Rock shared a video on Instagram where his official certificate can be viewed.

While granting an award for Most Selfies Taken may seem a bit ridiculous– like it or not– it has earned one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time a spot in The Book of World Records.
