Texas QB David Ash Ends Career Due To Concussions

Texas head coach Charlie Strong announced some unfortunate news during his press conference on Monday evening.

Quarterback David Ash will end his career, retiring after what would be his last concussion.

Ash missed all but three games of the 2013 season and suffered another concussion in the Longhorns’ season opening win over North Texas.

The junior will still be a part of the program.

“We just decided, because of his health — that’s the No. 1 concern for all of us — that he’s no longer going to play football,” said Strong. “But he is going to be part of the team, because I told him I wanted him around the team, and that’s what he deserves.”

Ash finishes his career with 4,728 yards and 31 touchdowns.
