Rutgers dismisses 5 players for role in home invasion

Rutgers University’s football program has dismissed five players from the team following their arrests earlier this week for their role in a home invasion. Sam Hellman of Scout.com reported the development.

Interestingly enough, Barnwell has been dismissed despite his name being the focal point of an investigation involving Scarlet Knights coach Kyle Flood. Allegedly, Flood violated direct orders from university higher-ups to not directly contact a professor of Barnwell’s to inquire about the junior cornerback’s academic status. Instead, Flood did just that and now finds himself the subject of an investigation that could end with a punishment as severe as his termination.

Given how Barnwell is now dismissed from the team for such a reason, it’s pretty safe to assume that Flood could also end up being questioned about just how much he knew about these players’ lives away from the field.
