Possible USC Starter Jabari Ruffin Out For Season

Another college football player has fallen to the training camp injury bug and this time its University of Southern California’s Jabari Ruffin.  The Trojan linebacker tore a ligament in his knee and will miss the entire 2014 season.

The injury occurred during Sunday’s practice, when Ruffin intercepted a pass before being tackled low on the play.  Ruffin stayed on the ground for a period of time, but in a post-practice interview head coach Steve Sarkisian described the injury as a “knee tweak.”  Wrong you are coach, the injury was far worse than expected and USC will lose a potential starting linebacker before the season even starts.

Prior to the injury, Ruffin was entrenched in an intense position battle for the starting spot at strong side linebacker. Quinton Powell will now assume the starting role with freshman Uchenna Nwosu as his backup.
