Penn State snags UConn transfer

The Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team may have just found the piece they needed to compete in the Big Ten in coming years. It comes in the form of former Connecticut Husky guard Terrence Samuel. The news was confirmed on Samuel’s Twitter account as he retweeted many followers of his that sent congratulations to him.

According to College Basketball Talk, Samuel will be leaving the Huskies to take his talents to the Big Ten for the 2016-17 season. He was a key piece of the 2014 National Championship team that UConn put on the floor.

Samuel was a huge bench player for the Huskies during their national championship run. He scored eleven points in a win over two-seeded Villanova in the round of 32 and added ten more for the team in a win over three-seeded Iowa State to help his team advance to the Elite Eight.

The Nittany Lions have not made the NCAA Tournament since the 2011 season. The team has never won the Big Ten conference championship and only has won conference tournament title from 1991 in the Atlantic 10.
