Old Dominion reveals cool new helmet for NC State game

The Old Dominion Monarchs are currently 2-0 and are looking to keep getting better. They now have a new, more modern look to go along with their undefeated record as they welcome in the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Saturday.

Head coach Bobby Wilder has been wildly successful with the Monarchs in his seven seasons. In his five seasons with the team in the FCS, he never had worse than an 8-4 record. The two years the Monarchs spent in the Colonial Athletic Association, they made the FCS playoffs and nearly advanced to the semifinals in 2012 before falling to Georgia Southern and finishing third in the AP poll.

In their first year in the FBS, the team went 6-6 and would have made a bowl game if not for the NCAA regulations that didn’t allow them to play postseason football in their first year.

The team is looking to get back to bowl eligibility and a big win over the Wolfpack would certainly help them.

The team introduced a new helmet decal for the game on Saturday and it is pretty amazing.

This new look is much sleeker and more modern than the Monarchs’ old look. To be clear, this is what their helmets used to look like.

Their new uniforms are a far cry from their old, which, in this case, is a very good thing. The Monarchs are a talented team. They’re hungry to make noise in the FBS and they are jacked about their new look.

The Wolf Pack better not take them lightly. The Monarchs host NC State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
