OL Matt Hegarty announces transfer to Oregon

Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Matt Hegarty announced Tuesday that he will spend his final season eligibility as a member of the Oregon Ducks.  Hegarty and the Ducks made it official Tuesday via Twitter.

A season ago, Hegarty started 11 of 13 games for the Fighting Irish and could be an instant impact player for a program looking to replace four year starter Hroniss Grasu.

Hegarty made his intentions to transfer very clear early in March and found a chance to start and compete for a National Championship at Oregon.

The former Notre Dame star has a chance to further display his versatility as a member of the Ducks and could potentially find his way onto an NFL roster following his graduate season.
