Oklahoma Sooners Top Recruit Charged

Top freshman running back Joe Mixon has been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly hitting a 20-year old female student in the face.  The altercation occurred at Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe on July 25, and Mixon allegedly broke four bones in Amelia Rae Molitor’s face.  Mixon’s attorney said Mixon was simply protecting himself “from a very intoxicated and troubled young woman.”  If found guilty, Mixon faces a maximum of one year in prison.

Mixon was the prized recruit in the Oklahoma Sooner’s 2014 recruiting class as the sixth ranked running back in the nation.  Earlier this summer, head coach Bob Stoops said in an ESPN Radio interview that Mixon would have an opportunity to start right away.  Mixon, however, has been suspended from all football related activities and must now focus on saving his career before it even starts.
