Notre Dame RB Greg Bryant suspended for September

Notre Dame Fighting Irish rising junior running back Greg Bryant will reportedly be suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season. Pete Sampson of Scout.com’s Irish Illustrated reported the suspension.

No reason has been given for Bryant’s suspension, but chances are the Irish won’t be hurting terribly from his loss. Quarterback Malik Zaire can use his legs well, and running back Tarean Folston and wideout C.J. Prosise can hold their own there as well. More importantly, Bryant has always been stuck behind that trio on the depth chart and only had 289 rush yards and five touchdowns on 54 carries last season.

Thus, though he is a former four-star recruit, it’s not as though Notre Dame’s offense is completely done without him. Of course, Campus Sports will update this story as more details become available.

Notre Dame went 8-5 last season and defeated LSU in the Music City Bowl. The team opens 2015 at home against Texas on September 5.
