Notre Dame Investigating Academic Misconduct

The University of Notre Dame’s mission statement begins with the goal, “To transmit knowledge through teaching and mentoring.”

This mission applies to every student at the school, even the football players.  While other universities may turn a blind eye to academic fraud, Notre Dame has decided to attack the problem head on.  Their attempts to thwart the issue began yesterday with the investigation of four Fighting Irish players that were involved in alleged “academic misconduct.”

The four players subject to discipline from the school are starting wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive back KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and reserve linebacker Kendall Moore.  A source close to the program also added that there were non-athletes involved  in the suspected fraud as well.

Suspensions are expected to be handed down from the school, however, the length of these punishments have not been finalized.

Currently, Notre Dame is ranked 17th in the USA Today pre-season poll, but loses four players that were a part of the 2012 team that lost to Alabama in the national championship.  Daniels and Russell were starters on that squad.
