New Day DQ’d, retain Tag Team Championship

The New Day retained the Tag Team Championship despite being disqualified in their match against 10-time Tag Team champs, thanks to interference from Xavier Woods.

D-Von and Kofi Kingston kicked off the action, grappling before Kingston acted shifty and dropkicked D-Von. More grappling ensued, and then Kingston made the mistake of slapping the tag-team legend upside the head. Bubba Ray then tagged in, and Kingston escaped the ring as Xavier Woods, looking like Rufio from “Hook,” was obnoxious with the trombone again.

Big E then tagged in and got in Bubba’s face to scream “Go home old man!” multiple times. Cut to more grappling, then Bubba Ray getting into a headlock as the crowd chanted “New…Day sucks. New…Day sucks.”

D-Von tagged in again for a double-elbow drop on Big E with his brother’s help, then Bubba Ray tagged in again and unleashed some offense on Big E after taking an elbow to the face, including a superplex off the top rope. Xavier Woods ran his mouth again as Kofi Kingston caused another distraction after tagging in, and then he and Big E took turns assaulting Bubba Ray in the corner.

The action continued with Woods playing the trombone, and Bubba Ray just getting taken apart by Big E. A pinfall attempt failed. Woods even played some of the Rocky theme to mock the Dudleys’ Philadelphia roots in ECW. Kingston then tagged in and took advantage of his opponent being down, as D-Von looked on trying to cheer his brother on and get him to tag him.

The crowd started chanting “RU-FI-O! RU-FI-O!” at this point, as Kingston was slammed by Bubba before D-Von tagged in again and just unleashed the fury, not giving Kingston an inch. Bubba Ray then tagged back in just in time to help his brother neutralize Big E with a neckbreaker suplex and then land 3D on Kingston, only to have Xavier Woods interfere and get New Day disqualified, but retain the belts.

But wait, there’s more! Kingston and Big E then called on Woods to get the tables, but the Dudleys fought back and then put Woods through the table himself!

Needless to say, look for the rematch to happen soon, be it on Raw tomorrow or at Hell in a Cell next month. There’s too much hype around the rivalry and the “#SaveTheTables” movement for this rivalry to be dead, plus it doesn’t make sense for the Dudleys to come back for a month just to put the New Day over.
