Maryland QB Caleb Rowe Tears ACL

Maryland’s depth at the quarterback position has taken a huge hit after news surfaced backup QB Caleb Rowe will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during Thursday’s practice.

This is the second time Rowe has suffered an ACL tear in the same knee. The first time dates back to this freshman season, when he went down with the injury.

Rowe will not be able to apply for a medical redshirt since we are at the midway point of the season, but he will still have one year of eligibility remaining.

The junior had appeared in four games this season and played a significant amount of time the last two games in place of C.J. Brown.

He finishes the season with 489 passing yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions. Through his career thus far, the South Carolina native has thrown for 1,768 yards, 12 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

Redshirt freshman Shane Cockerill or redshirt sophomore Perry Hills will claim Rowe’s spot as the backup quarterback for the Terrapins moving forward.
