Jimbo Fisher: Florida State scrutiny comes from success

Over the past few seasons, the Florida State Seminoles have seen their players working their way into the headlines for all of the wrong reasons.

The most high-profile incidents involved former star quarterback Jameis Winston being tied to an alleged assault, quarterback De’Andre Johnson striking a woman in a bar on video and running back Dalvin Cook also allegedly striking a woman.

While many view the issues as an institutional control issue, head coach Jimbo Fisher says the criticism his team has been facing comes largely from the program’s recent success.

During an appearance on on ESPN’s Mike & Mike Tuesday morning, Fisher acknowledged his team being under a microscope.

Some people may view this as an excuse, but there is certainly some truth to what Fisher is saying.

Sure, his players shouldn’t be out getting into trouble like they have been, but it doesn’t help when you have constant media attention on your team waiting for the next player to screw up.
