Jacoby Brissett Shines Against FSU

NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett brought his name to light after his outstanding performance during Saturday’s game against Florida State.  North Carolina State may have lost the game (56-41) but the 6’1″, 231 lb. junior quickly made his presence on the field known.

The Wolfpack offense had a ton of success early on in the first half.  Brissett immensely contributed to that success with his first pass of the game to David Grinnage going for 21 yards, and then evading a pass-rusher and getting the ball downfield to Bo Hines for a 51-yard touchdown. Already nursing the lead 17-7 against the top-ranked Seminoles, the Wolfpack faced a third and six from the FSU eight-yard line when Brissett managed to elude who sacks and then hit Johnathan Alston in the end zone for a brilliantly scored touchdown.

After a play like that, the Florida Gators were surely kicking themselves.  Brissett played at Florida before transferring to North Carolina State.  Despite Brissett’s strong play against the Seminole defense, Florida State managed to claw back for the win 56-41.  Brissett finished the game with 359 yards, three touchdown passes and no interceptions. By comparison, Florida State’s Jameis Winston threw for 365 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Playing well in national spotlight games against top-ranked teams, shows the future is promising for North Caroline State’s junior quarterback.
