‘Husker DB Forced to Pay Fine in Marijuana Case

No matter its positive qualities and the fact that four states have cleared the use of recreational marijuana, it is still illegal when it comes to the NCAA. Apparently Nebraska cornerback Boaz Joseph wasn’t given that memo.

Joseph was slapped with a $300 fine after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge that stemmed from an April 16 investigation, according to Omaha.com. Joseph luckily had the drug paraphernalia charges against him dropped.

This is not the first time Joseph has run into trouble with the law. He was cited last Summer for stealing an on-campus “bait bike.” He entered into pre-trial preparations, but those charges were ultimately dropped.

With as seriously as the NCAA takes marijuana possession, an example being former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu being suspended one game for synthetic marijuana possession, it is hard to believe that the upcoming sophomore will get off scott-free from his encounter.
