Harvard lose Siyani Chambers for the season with a torn ACL

Harvard Crimson point guard Siyani Chambers reportedly tore his anterior cruciate ligament in workouts, which will send him to the bench for the 2015-16 season.

The Ivy League states once a player is tagged as a redshirt, the athlete must unenroll in the university. Since this is case, Chambers is required to leave campus, but he intends to re-enlist for the 2016-17 academic year.

A debilitating loss for Harvard, who have strictly relied on Chambers for an average of 30 games per season since 2012, means restructuring the top of the key with junior point guard Corbin Miller (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) from Brighton High.

Last year, Miller recorded 245 points in 30 games, along with 19 assists and 47 total rebounds.

Over the course of his first three years at Harvard, Siyani averaged 9.9 points, 4.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 34 minutes of on-court action.

Since 2011, the Harvard Crimson have grabbed five conference championships, but in mere thanks to the contributions of Wesley Saunders (graduated in 2015) and Siyani Chambers, both of whom are clearly not around anymore, putting Harvard between a rock and a hard place for the upcoming college basketball season.
