Former Miami OT Tyler Gadbois headed to FCS

Former Miami Hurricane Taylor Gadbois is headed to FCS Southeastern Louisiana. Gadbois announced the news on his personal Twitter account.

Gadbois had been projected as a starter for the ‘Canes in the upcoming season despite going down with a knee injury after starting five games last season and missing spring practice. He was kicked off the team in June for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Gadbois wasn’t a highly touted recruit in the class of 2012, receiving only 2 stars from ESPN. As luck would have it, the only other offensive lineman in Miami’s 2012 class was Ereck Flowers, who started at left tackle for the Hurricanes and was the 9th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Only securing two tackles in the class gave Gadbois a shot and he made the most of it. After redshirting his freshman year, he came back as a starter at right tackle in his redshirt freshman campaign. Unfortunately for him, that’s as far as he got—at least at Miami.

His replacement will either be redshirt sophomore Sunny Odogwu, a native of Nigeria and a 3-star member of the class of 2013 or Trevor Darling, a hometown guy and 4-star member of the class of 2014.

As for Gadbois’s new team, the Southeastern Louisiana Lions are no FCS powerhouse, but they aren’t pushovers either. Over the last two years, the Lions have gone 20-7 including three playoff games.
