Florida Gators transfer guard Eli Carter will play his final year of eligibility for the Boston College Eagles. Carter made the announcement on his personal Twitter page and had nothing but good things to say about the Gators’ program.
“First I would like to say thanks to all three schools for the relentless pursuit in my abilities,” Carter said. “I will be doing my final year of collegiate basketball at Boston College ! #EAGLES”
In his final season in Gainesville, Carter averaged 8.8 points in 24.5 minutes per game. The Paterson, New Jersey native had also previously played for Rutgers.
Now, he will head to Boston College not only to get a Masters’ Degree, as was reported by SNY’s Adam Zagoria, but also to play for an Eagles team that went 13-19 (4-14 ACC) in its first season under head coach Jim Christian, who previously coached at Kent State, Texas Christian and Ohio University.
Boston College has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2009, former coach Al Skinner’s second to last season, and has had trouble finding its footing since making the Sweet Sixteen under Skinner back in 2006.
Hopefully, Carter can provide some leadership to the team so that its attack against stronger teams in Duke, UNC and others is more united, and so that he can end his collegiate playing career on a high note.
