Florida State RB Mario Pender suffered collapse lung

The Florida State Seminoles are heading into an important Week 5 game on the road against Wake Forest. Mario Pender is questionable to play in that game after suffering a collapsed lung during Thursday’s practice with the Seminoles, but is still hoping to make it back in time for that game.

Pender hasn’t been a huge part of the Florida State offense, but he has been a playmaker when he has been on the field. He has carried the football 30 times for 140 yards and a touchdown so far this season, while also catching three passes for 34 yards. Florida State likes the balance that he brings to them, but they aren’t going to be lost offensively without him.

Getting back to full health should be the primary concern for Pender, especially with Wake Forest not being the best football team in the ACC.

Don’t be surprised if Pender does get back on the field in time for the Seminoles’ game against the Demon Deacons. Florida State will have to go up against Miami on October 10th, which is a much more difficult game for the Seminoles. Pender would be very valuable as a change of pace back against the Hurricanes and they certainly need to get him back by that game.

Expect to see the talented running back get back on the field fairly soon and be a full go against the Hurricanes. He could very well play against Wake Forest, but the Seminoles could very well end up resting him one game to make sure he’s a full go for October 10th.
