European SG not joining Western Kentucky

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers lost four of their top five scorers from last season over the summer. The team is in dire straits for scorers this season as they currently only return Chris Harrison-Docks from the 2014-15 season.

The team planned on European shooting guard Kristaps Gluditis being one of those players for this season. According to College Basketball Talk, Gluditis will not be with the team this season. It is reported that he did not meet the school’s academic standards for international students.

Gluditis can either get his test scores up and join the team midseason, enroll at a junior college, or go to another four-year school since he has been cleared by the NCAA. Not having Gluditis this season puts the team in a situation where they will use players like grad student Aaron Cosby, transfer Frederick Edmond, and freshmen Chris McNeal and Marlon Hunter Jr.

Someone will have to step up and relieve the pressure on Harrison-Docks, who last season averaged 11.1 per game last year. Ben Lawson is the next most productive returner with 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
