Arizona LB Scooby Wright to miss 2-3 games

Arizona Wildcats linebacker Scooby Wright has had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will likely miss two to three games, keeping him out of action for a month.

A junior from Santa Rosa, California, Wright finished ninth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2014 and led the nation with 164 tackles and 31 tackles for a loss. Wright also had 15 sacks and five forced fumbles. In his team’s season opener against Texas-San Antonio on Thursday, he posted one tackle before injuring his knee.

Needless to say, Wright’s absence from the team will be a big one. Arizona’s next three games are against Nevada, Northern Arizona and UCLA and though the Wildcats should win two of those games quite easily, not having Wright for a key in-conference game against the Bruins could prove costly. If Arizona loses that game, the team’s College Football Playoff hosts could be crushed.

Hopefully, Wright recovers quickly and gets back on the field soon.
