After kidnapping charges, CMU dismisses Brandon Greer

Central Michigan Chippewas defensive back Brandon Greer has been dismissed from the team following his arrest on charges of assault, attempted unlawful imprisonment and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration. Kevin McGuire of NBC Sports’ College Football Talk reported the development.

CMU AD David Heeke offered a brief statement, in which the following was said.

‘We take all criminal misconduct very seriously and felt this case warranted immediate dismissal from our program,” a statement from CMUathletic directorDave Heeke said.

As was reported by Rick Mills of the Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun, Greer is accused of trying to kidnap a woman who was walking her dog and subsequently bring her into his car. She was fortunately able to get away and notify the authorities.

A rising junior, Greer was well on his way to becoming a fixture in the Chippewas’ secondary prior to his dismissal. In two seasons with the team, he had 98 tackles and five interceptions, one of which was run back for a touchdown.

CMU opens the season at home against Oklahoma State on September 3.
