No. 1 Ranked Thon Maker Moves To Canada

The number one ranked player in the entire 2016 basketball recruiting class has enrolled at the Athlete Institute in Canada.

Thon Maker and his younger brother, Matur, have decided to move to Canada where their guardian, Ed Smith is located.

Smith was confident and optimistic about the decision.

“We believe this is the best decision for Thon, Matur and my family,” Smith said.

He continued, saying, “the strength and conditioning program is tremendous and was the main factor of this decision. Playing with high-level players such as Jamal Murray and Jalen Poyser, and playing an international schedule, as well as many games back in the states makes the schedule strong. The academic component has everything in place.”

Maker has two years of high school eligibility remaining after moving from Australia, and it remains unclear whether or not he will return to the United States for college.  The elder of the Maker brothers possesses elite size and athleticism making him not only the best player in the 2016 class, but of all high school players.
